Improvements over the previous PM6002 include a lower impedance toroidal transformer with screening can to minimise electromagnetic radiation to the pre-amplifier circuits. Marantz PM 6003 employs higher current capacity output transistors mounted on a large non-resonant heatsink and higher rated resevoir capacitors for better dynamics and a more solid bass response.

Current feedback in circuits gives amazing transient response and an open, spacious soundstage. Other features include a MM phono stage, loudness control, source direct for improved transparency, bass and treble controls, four pairs of speaker terminals to enable bi-wiring of loudspeakers and gold plated RCA inputs for improved sound quality.
