Boat Building in Sulawesi, Indonesia, c.1995
Many boats are held together by wooden pegs, although metal nails are being introduced.

Making The Pegs, c.1995.

Wooden pegs were still being used in 2012

Caulking

By 2012 Chainsaws and electric tools were in common use.

Notice how the lower frames are fitted to the lower hull planking, not the planks to the frames.

Compare this with building of wooden fishing boats in UK, c.1974
